I have owned my range for 3 months. The knobs get extremely hot no matter what/how you cook. While cooking on the main burner with a standard 12" saute pan, the front three knobs of the range acutally MELTED!!!! The design is awful. Paying $2K for a high end appliance to have the "plastic" knobs that become too hot to touch and melt with normal use is crazy.

Modern, sleek design. The central knob placement is the main ™€œpain point™€ as it can interfere with large cookware; a vertical, side-aligned layout would improve functionality. The gas lock is a great safety feature. The Power Boil burner is versatile, going from very strong to delicate simmering. Stainless steel surface can easily scratch; even the heavy cast-iron grates can leave marks if not handled with care. To preserve the ™€œnew finish look™€ make sure to follow the manufacturer recommendations for cleaning.

Control Knobs Melt

We purchased our cooktop a few years ago. Given the amount we paid for it, I am very disappointed in the quality of the control knobs. They are made of plastic. One melted with a year. Another has now melted. Buyer beware.

I love the cook top. burners are great and accommodate my deeds. Controls work well the electric start is a bit dodgy getting the flame to ignite. maybe my lack of experience? Looks very sturdy materials are good Size is fine for me and configuration is good. BUT WHY DIDN'T IT COME WITH A RUBBER SURROUND TO MATE IT TO THE COUNTER???

Failed prematurely due to cheap control knobs

Beautiful cooktop, but the control knobs are plastic and failed on all burners. I epoxied a tight fitting piece of metal tubing on the replacements which lasted until the ultimate failure of the cooktop after 9 years of use.

Easy to clean and fast to cook with. Improved version from another cafe cooktop stove. The flames are broad so they cover more pots surface area. Griddles are still heavy and thick which it make it more resistant to flames.

Great cooktop. Cleans well with Weisman Stainless steal cleaner. The lighter for center burner stopped working after 5 months. Now it is a single ring burner if lighted with gas lighter. Scheduling a service with Best Buy! Not sure if center nozzle is not emitting Gas.

brushed brass knobs issues

Gas cooktop (installed 2022) works easily and well after two years. The issue is the brushed bronze knobs are chipping and pealing. The knobs are a hard plastic with a hard finish, and unfortunately the hard brushed bronze finish is not holding up. This poor quality started within weeks of install, however I did not take the time reach out to Cafe/GE to get replacements under warranty, therefore I have to purchase all new knobs. We have four other Cafe appliances (refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and oven) and the brushed bronze hardware for each are perfect having no blemishes. I'm thinking this is due to the fact that they are metal with a proper top finish, possibly a powdercoated finish.

Valves seize

I love this cooktop. The center burner is wonderful for anytime you want a fast super hot burner for searing (think perfect scallops). We have had our cooktop for about 5 years and have had no problem until last November when one of the knobs seized. By the time the repairman got here the second knob had frozen. By the time the repairman got the parts and came to fix the first two knobs, the third knob had seized. And then by the time he came to fix the third knob, the fourth knob had seized. The central fifth burner knob is still fine but I feel certain it is due to seize soon as well. I DO NOT allow my stove or burners to get dirty. The valves that were removed look perfect. What is the deal?

Nice looking cooktop with lots of heat to n the center burner. The bottom lit knobs are an elegant touch and let you know when a burner is on. On the negative side, the burners do not reignite if they go out and the knobs turn counter clockwise to to turn. Opposite of virtually every other cooktop I™€™ve used.

Works very well and looks great. We love the LED lights under the knobs, which make it very clear which burner is on. The cooktop also comes with a cast iron griddle, which we didn't know... so that was a nice bonus! Burners light up right away.

The cook top gas burners work well as expected. The control knobs light up when turned on to show a burner is active. Cleaning the knobs by removing is easy. The cast iron greats are three pieces and are heavy duty. A con is th we stainless steel scratches easy and the shows many marks that cannot be removed without using appropriate methods which will take a significant effort. This is a major distractor on appearance for a unit that has been in service for just 4 months.
