Because knock offs are out there, going directly to GE or a certified GE Dealer is the best choice. I already purchased a filter said to be compatible with GE refrigerators. NOT true... I learned my lesson after spending almost 50 dollars on an incompatible filter that cannot be returned.

I was so hopeful that the GSWF Filter pictured on the GE Appliances website would work in my Profile refrigerator (#PFSS2MJXASS), especially since the photo on the webpage showed just what I needed (the filter with the smaller hole in the center) and the part number matched what I needed However, to my great disappointment it was not to be. The filter that I received had the larger hole in the center and from past experience, I new not to install it (it would produced loud noises when engaged and no water would flow). I submitted a request to return the filter and promptly did so. I am still searching for a replacement filter with no luck and don't completely understand why the manufacturer of the appliance is unable to help. If the filter has been redesigned shouldn't there be some way for me to be able to get a filter that will work or perhaps an adapter so that the newer filters will work in my refrigerator. Even a different item/model number would help (at least that way I would know if I was ordering a replacement filter that will work) After all the refrigerator is still working. . . I should be able to use all of the features. So Disappointed

i notice a significant water pressure loss at the refrigerators water spout. this has been getting worse over time. Although at times, i can get a new GSWF filter that seems to work fine, ie. no flow or pressure drop problems. The problem seems to lie in the filter. There is no build up if the refrigerators tubing/routing. This problem has been getting worse and i attribute it to the manufacturing process.

GE jerked me around when I called, they had a repair man visit who confirmed what I knew - the filter was defective, He didn't have a filter on the truck, so back to the phone to process the defective replacement. What a hassle. Need better quality on the parts.

The shoulders inside the filter are shorter than earlier iterations. The latest filter won't fully actuate the water valve. I added some o-rings to make up the difference and got it to work. The latest are labeled GSWF but have MSWF in the description.
