Replaced 10 year old GE that gave up. So far working well. Door a bit offset but could have been something installers did? Fan is pretty loud even on low setting compared to old oven. Hope I can get 10 years out of this one.

A few reasons for a 1 review. The light under the microwave went out a few years ago. I have order bulbs but they all keep blowing. Now we are stuck in the dark while cooking on the range top. Another reason is the inside coating has begun to peal and expose metal. Sometimes it sparks or drops the coating into the food if uncovered. This may be dangerously hazardous to our health.

Disappointment with GE Microwave Reliability

I am uncertain if I can recommend this product. Based on my experience, the microwave may only last approximately two years before it stops heating effectively with little usage. When contacted, GE estimated the cost for a service call (including a technician visit, labor, and parts) to be over $120, a significant portion of the initial product cost of $300. Due to this experience, I will be reconsidering future GE purchases.

Overall this model performs well, nicely meeting all of our needs. Only 2 drawbacks: the ventilation fan is annoyingly loud. And the incandescent surface lightbulb becomes too hot quickly. I replaced it with an LED bulb of comparable size which works nicely but regularly falls out of the socket. Very annoying!

I had a GE microwave for years that my father recently broke, forcing me to get a new microwave. My microwave (profile) was AMAZING. The only problem with it was that the LED display dimmed. THIS one, however, is so noisy. It sounds like I'm popping popcorn no matter what I put in it. The turn table jerks around quite a bit. I had a technician come to look at it and he said it was "normal" for this model. This is not disclosed in the advertising literature. No, it's disclosed only in the info you get once you buy the microwave. A clear bait and switch if ever there was one. Now I have to hope the store will consider taking it back. Otherwise I'm stuck with this piece of junk.

Great microwave especially for those on a budget

I™€™ve enjoyed my GE microwave so when my old one finally gave out (16 years!) this seemed like a very good replacement. I like that I can be more precise with my time specifications. The popcorn, beverage, and potato features are also very handy. I think I™€™ll enjoy this one as much as the previous one.

Product looks great, lacks the old GE quality we have come to expect. We only use it to warm up leftovers and such, don't expect miracles but we do expect the basic function of a microwave to work well. We get extreme hot spots and uneven cooking despite the table turning. The touch pad is very stiff have to press hard to work. After only 1 month, the black plastic touchpad is looking warn. I do not think we will get the 12 years of service out of this one like we did it's GE predecessor.

Unfortunately, this microwave replaces a same that was only 2 years old. That was also a replacement. The microwave works great, while it works! Be aware that the purchased extended warranty does not cover the installation or extend to the replaced microwave. Still, it was less expensive to use this warranty than not have it.
