Our new compactor is very well designed. The new bags fit much better than the older model's paper bags, and the mechanism for starting the compactor is less problematic and easier to use, compared to the older model.
The 2 men who installed the compactor were very efficient.

I don't understand why Trash Compactors have such a limited selection - this is by far one of my favorite appliances, I actually have TWO, one for each side of the kitchen!

I have only had this trash compactor a little over a year and it is already broken and leaking fluids from the mechanism that runs it. I have owned trash compactors for over 30 years and I have never had one fail in less than 20 years before. This is not a good product.

Mu previous garbage compactor lasted for 35 years, motor finally gave in. This new compactor does not have the compaction compression as my previous one. Very inefficient. Disappointed with purchase.

Neat and clean lines. More modern than my last one, which lasted over 34 years. It was still working, but we were modernizing the kitchen and this was part of the upgrade. we are very satisfied with the compactor.

Owned a GE Profile for years and never had a problem with it until recently. Had to replace because the on off control was no longer available. Work horse and sturdy builted.

Just the right size. It does not have the crush and hold feature which is annoying. Not sure if, without that, it will hold as much trash. Time will tell if it is sturdy. The foot pedal control is worrisome. I have had to replace those on other compactors in the past. Could use upper handle to open compactor. Now no upper handle. Hole the button on the foot pedal holds.

I replaced my 16 year old GE compactor with this new one. It came ready to slide into the existing space, plug in, and I like the new features. This one has a foot peddle that opens hands-free, like the old one; but instead of a dial on the front, the foot pedal, when raised, operates the motor. Nice clean front! Installed in on May 10. Today is Jun 9 and we still have room to put in more trash! A bit pricey; but worth it to us!

It is great to be back to compacting trash.I had a G.E. many years ago. As I have began remodeling my kitchen I knew this was going to be part of my plan. G.E. compactors have a great and a reliable history. I owned and operated an appliance repair business many years ago and G.E. compactors were not something that came up for service. I owned a stand alone one that I kept in my garage. Super product and should be part of every kitchen. Great machine!

A compactor is a compactor--well almost. What makes this one special is that you never have to turn it on--just the first time. From then on you never have to touch it with your hands. Step on the foot pedal to open it; gently lift the foot pedal to activate the compactor. Life is good! I just do not know why they have to cost over $1,000.00?

I waited about 6 weeks to get it delivered. Used for about 3 weeks when it stopped working [ram would not come down and compress]. Since then have had GE service work on the compactor twice. Parts had to be ordered. Repair men will be back a third time in a couple of days to install new parts and try again.

We dealt with customer service, including multiple service calls and service call cancellations, but GE Appliances eventually provided a replacement unit. That unit has now failed after 2 weeks (foot pedal failure, the door won't open). I would like to be able to give this trash compactor a good rating, but I just can't.

The new one replaced our twenty-year-old non-GE that was having problems. One feature I miss that our previous compactor had, was a push button that would keep the ram down to constantly compact until another button was pressed and the ram would come back up to allow for the drawer to open. The GE goes down by lifting the foot switch but immediately comes back up so the trash does not stay compacted. I gave it a 3-star rating because of this, otherwise I would give it 5 stars.

So happy to have a new compactor. Trying to get used to it not having a handle, and the buttons to attach the bag to are great, but a little difficult to attach. Overall happy with it.
