Well, It Works, Kinda

Got this to replace a 30 year old Hotpoint refrigerator. Yes, you read that right - 30 years old and still running, but the compressor was finally giving out. Well, the new one arrived broken. The freezer fan, which apparently supplies cold to the refrigerator was not working. Had to have a brand new refrigerator serviced 2 days after it was delivered. Even now, the temperature is set as low as possible and the milk is still not as cold as I would prefer. Using my digital thermocouple, the measured temperature is 40 degrees F. That's just barely within tolerance. In fact google says it should be between 35 and 38. If I were in the QA department of GE/Haier I would fail this refrigerator and it would not leave the factory. Just goes to show how far GE has slipped in the quality department.

I™€™ve now had the refrigerator for a whole month and no issues to date. My old refrigerator that this new one replaced was also a Hotpoint and was about 20+ years old and was still working when they hauled it away, but decided to get a new one because I started to notice water droplets from the freezer in the lower half. The jury is still out since we just received this product. Only complaint so far is that it did not come with a owner's manual. Had to call Home Depot and they were kind enough to print out the manual for us. They indicated that a lot of products no longer come with manuals, which is hard to believe. Not everyone has online access.

We bought this refrigerator about a month ago. It is OK but is very noisy. Sounds like a large mechanical cat. I am hard of hearing and it drowns out any hope of conversation. It would be a fine refrigerator if the noise was in the garage instead of a galley kitchen. Otherwise functions well.

The first one that was delivered had a vibrating noise coming from the freezer. I pulled it away from the wall to check out the noise and found a puncture in the back of the unit. Returned this one. The replacement also has the same vibration.
